I have allowed this post above having removed the back links because I want members and tenants to understand the arrogance of these companies and this one who is acting as a broker when they think they can post their wares with backlinks on a website which evidentially detests there products and what they charge..

Interestingly apart from the fact that they are obviously stupid trying to post on this web site I have checked the entire site and screen shot every page and cannot find a reference to the interest charged by their clients or even a data protection compliance number this must be made clear before making the unsuspecting loan applicant fill in any application form with their personal details therefore at the point of writing this their website content is illegal.

I is simple folks do not use these sites because they are not easy sensible cash, they are the catalyst to nailing yourself to a cross forever.. The only time you should take out any payday loan is when you are that skint and so far down you would never be able to or ever intend to pay it back and then it becomes a gift Laugh “Pay day gifts are good”

The lender in the post above implies that it must be a good service because the industry is growing in double digits .. lol Laugh I hate to tell them but that is not an accolade to their industry because so is drug dealing, actually what it really shows is the state of the economy amongst the working class tax payers of this country living from hand to mouth month after month. That’s what it really shows.

I dont suppose when they just posted their backlinks on here to promote their horrid trade that this is the marketing they expected GrrrrrrrWinkYell

I would rather have a brothel on the high street, as they do very discretely in Melbourne Australia, than a pay day loan shark.

Gone off park benches, David or are there more fringe benefits with a brothel?

Lyndon for once in my life this was a serious comment, it doesn’t happen often so savour the moment.  It is many years since I lived in Australia; at the time it was said that there were many brothels on Swanston Street, one of the main shopping streets in Melbourne.  I never did manage to spot any for they were so discreet but one was featured on a television soap about 20 years ago.  The point I was trying to make was that brothels, when properly controlled, cause less of a social problem than pay day lenders (and probably cost less).

As to my personal involvement, I was happily married at the time and the interest was purely academic, in fact being a bit of a gricer I was more interested in the Melbourne trams.

I am chair of the Homestamp Consortium which is a partnership of councils, Police, Fire Service, Universities, students unions, landlords associations and other partners in the West Midlands.  We only exist to make the PRS a place where tenants want to live and good landlords can thrive.  At our AGM next week we will be discussing how we can work with the Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) to get the messages out to tenants.  They may begin by lending from “regulated” lenders but when they get into trouble and cannot make their payments they are often forced into the arms of the LOAN SHARKS and

LOAN SHARKS RUIN LIVES

Targeting Privately Rented Tenants – July Awareness Month

The IMLT are carrying out a national awareness campaign across England with particular focus on private tenants.  This will be local events, training etc and associated media stories.

I will be telling my colleagues that Paul Routledge will welcome an article on LRS during July to help us to get the messages out to landlords who can then pass them onto tenants.  Tenants who are up to their necks in it with debt may use their rent money to pay them.  A landlords is very unlikely to present the same threat to a tenant as a loan shark and losing your home may be preferable to a broken leg or worse.

I really loath this whole business and this is why I am a strong supporter of Credit Unions who help to sort out those who cannot manage their money and offer cheap loans to help them once they are in a position to make repayments.

Mary,

I welcome an article and will promote it onto the 50,000+ followers and friends the social accounts share between us at LRS. I will also post it out in the weekly newsletter to members and of course promote it through the huge numbers of members, visitors and supporters that travel through LRS everyday.

We need to protect our communities and tenants and working class families from these people and after reading an article from London landlord   Is Britain is being sold off cheap as more overseas rich buy up our homes. A 100 UK billionaires of which I am inclined to believe while this government watches the family jewels be sold off abroad. Labour may have to answer for selling our gold off cheap but at the rate we have foreign investors picking up our homes and businesses the whole country will be sold abroad with a generation.

It is a shame that our own working class cannot get a decent mortgage any more or a decent home at a good price and as all that seems to be left for the rest of us is payday loans at 4000% per annum..

The pay day companies mostly exist because the majority of people are feckless when it comes to managing their monies.

They make the wrong choices with their limited budgets!

They gamble; they smoke, they drink, they have expensive mobiles and contracts, they go on holidays, they go out socialising, they choose to rent in expensive areas or have large mortgages to live in expensive areas. they choose to have the full Sky packages to view on a massive flat screen TV.

I have recovered an inordinate amount of TV’s which aren’t flat screen and just require a cheap freeview box to work now we have digital signal only.

These TV’s are in the tenant properties; they appreciate having a free TV which is ‘gifted’ to them at tenancy commencement.

I say they can leave them behind or take them when they vacate.

They NEVER take the TV!!

They acquire their own freeview box or rather I seem to have acquired some and so they don’t have to obtain their own.

People make the wrong spending choices and that is why these payday loan companies can feed of the feckless nature of most people.

There are very few people who spend only on

Rent/mortgage

Basic food

Gas/Elec

Water

Council Tax

Basic clothes

Travel expenses

Anything spent on more than these items is discretionary spend and if you do not have the resources then you should NOT be spending what you can’t afford.

The way to spend more is to earn more or save out of your earnings to then afford what you want later on once savings have built up!!

The vast majority of people who use payday loans are just feckless; they deserve everything that happens to them.

Credit Unions are the way to go.

I listened  to Moneybox on R 4 yesterday with great concern how banks are deducting illegally charges from tenants’ bank accounts whose only form of income is benefits.

This couldn’t happen with credit unions.

Could there NOT be a LRS credit union with a common bond of LRS membership for tenants and LL alike.

For the vast majority of people basic bank accounts which should prevent any charges being levied are all that is required.

No credit opportunities should arise as it is these that cause bank charges to be levied because people just cannot manage their money properly

Credit unions prevent this from happening.

Credit unions could kill payday loan companies if they were more accessible and widespread.

Why can’t banks offer a credit union facility!!??

It could be a way if so desired for a CU client to migrate later on to a full status bank account when their circumstances improve.

There are the great unbanked out there and not being part of a formal financial  operation is enormously detrimental to such people.

So let us have Bank CU’s; it could even cause banks to become loved!!!

Why can’t banks work with CU’s to offer a CU service in branch.

Given the fact that most people are incapable of managing money properly a bank CU would be a very attractive proposition!!!

What about a Tesco CU etc!!
