Hello,

I am currently a final year student at Nottingham Trent University studying Quantity Surveying and Construction Commercial Management and I was hoping I could get some assistance. I am currently writing my dissertation on the awareness the industry has of the Energy Performance Certificate and I have a 30 second questionnaire that assists with my study. If you could please follow the link below and answer the questions, it would be greatly appreciated and a massive help to me being able to complete my dissertation and degree. All responses are 100% anonymous.

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BQ99RJ7

The beginning section of the questionnaire is a small introduction to the EPC and 10 multiple answer questions follow. The survey has been developed to understand the awareness the industry has on various aspects relating to the Energy Performance Certificate, so even if the respondent has very little knowledge, that too benefits my study.

Thank you for your time
Sam

I completed your survey but was disappointed that there was no provision for any free comment.  There are many problems with both the EPCs and the new regulations which your survey did not capture.

I totally agree with David Price comments .

The consumer forum on EPC’s shows that landlords have been taking their old outdated so called economy 7 and energy saving radiators out and following the information from the new “Green computerized electric radiators sites –  that claim your property will be more energy efficient. They look smart, are expensive (£800 a radiator) easier to install than gas central heating but they will bring your EPC rating down to a E or F .

They are a complete waste of time and money and there is no information out there from the EPC sites that explain this. My EPC man certainly did not inform me when i put them in . I am having to replace them with gas central heating now. Do Not touch any electrical so called Green Energy with a barge pole. I tried to leave a review on their site which asks for  reviews and they took it off.

If any of you “Green Sites” have anything to say in your defense please comment on here .

Can i also add that the criteria for EPC’s has been highered?

My old EPC was D on a property.  My new EPC on the same property is E . I did not know the criteria has been changed, – read the landlords EPC comments on other sites .  I have tenants of many years in situ, they have either got to move or put up with building work whilst i update my insulation . I do not want my EPC to slip further down the ladder next year if an even higher criteria is introduced .

Are you aware that if you do not provide an EPC to the tenant prior to the signing of any AST that the LL cannot ever serve a section 21 notice? Surprised
