Last chance to respond to Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm Regulations Consultation
Private rental sector landlords still have one more day to respond to this consultation, which closes tomorrow (9th Jan, 2018 at 11:45pm).
Introduced on 1st October 2015, the Government’s Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations were updated to protect private tenants from death or injury caused by smoke and carbon monoxide poisoning in the home – aiming to ensure that more rented homes in England have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
During the passage of the regulations through Parliament in 2015, ministers promised to review them in 2017. This consultation invites views and comments to gather evidence on the effectiveness of the regulations to date.
However, it does not indicate any intention to change the regulations – where any legislation brought forward as a result of the consultation would be subject to appropriate assessment and consultation.
