The ‘Regulatory Reform Order (Fire Safety) 2005’ which came in to effect in October 2006 replaced the old system of Fire Safety certificates issued by the local Fire Authority. The responsibility for fire safety now rests with the building owner or appointed ‘responsible person’, and a documented fire safety audit is a mandatory requirement.
