Immigration ID Verification / Is it a blacklist?
How does Jumio’s Netverify ID Verification work please?
Jumio’s Netverify allows landlords to submit identity documents to the Tenant Referencing UK platform for digital review, to determine whether their next tenant has the right to legally reside in the country or not. On average through the Home Office this process can take up to 72 hours to complete, but with Jumio’s Netverify these checks come back within 5 minutes!
All landlords or agents need to do is upload a colour photo, scan or photograph from a phone/webcam of the prospective tenant’s identity card, passport or driving license and within 5 minutes will receive a response as to whether the ID is fake, fraudulent or has been manipulated in any way. It’s that simple!
Furthermore, after completion it is then stored in your personal Tenant Referencing UK Identity Verification Archive, so that you can refer back to it at any time; so that you can prove you’ve showed due diligence and followed the relevant identity checks of the Right to Rent Act.
What is ‘realtime referencing’ and is it a blacklist?
Real Time Referencing is up-to-the-minute LIVE tenant referencing, carried out by landlords and letting agents throughout the UK. Credit Report data is updated every 3-6 months, whereas Tenant History data is uploaded and updated on a daily basis. It is a concept that is the only one of its kind in the UK and has been created & developed exclusively by Tenant Referencing UK over the last 7 years.
It is a total misconception that data sharing via Tenant Histories between landlords and letting agents is a black list; it is not. It is simply a neighbourhood watch for private renting professionals – aka “A grapevine for landlords.” – BBC Points West 14/12/2012.
