I’ve just received the Equifax financial report back. Does the green tick mean I should go ahead with their tenancy or is there anything else I should be waiting for?

Thank you for highlighting this issue.

At Tenant Referencing UK we try to make everything as clear and transparent as possible, but unfortunately (and worryingly) some of our customers are wrongly moving tenants in when seeing the green tick on the financial report.

To counteract this from happening, we have now removed the tick and cross images from the reports and amended it to now read:

  • This person will be eligible for Rent Guarantee Insurance subject to meeting all other criteria. DO NOT MOVE THIS PERSON IN until you have been told referencing is complete or you have gathered sufficient other evidence yourself. 
  • This person is NOT eligible for Rent Guarantee Insurance. DO NOT MOVE THIS PERSON IN unless you understand what this means are are happy to proceed.

So please make sure that you read the report in full, and remember that the information we provide for landlords is simply data compilation that is then reported for the landlord to make an informed decision. We, the referencing company, do not make a decision in regards to their suitability or acceptance; it is you (the landlord) that decides this.
